Duane A.Maas, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2004 at Saint Mary's hospital. Age 74 years. Duane was born on June 12, 1930 in Saginaw to the late Wilbur and Frieda (Haffner) Maas. He married Carole Ann Cowles on June 16, 1956 in Saginaw. She preceded him in death. Duane was employed in the Saginaw Public School System as a Principal of Saginaw High School and the Assistant Principal of South Junior High School, retiring in 1985.

Duane was a member of Warren Avenue Presbyterian Church, a board member of Team One C.U., a lifelong Mason, past Director of Elf Khurafeh Shriners and was an avid golfer and traveler.

Surviving are three children, Daniel A. (Brenda) Maas, Grand Rapids; Diana M. (Michael) Love, Bloomington, Ind.; David A. Maas, Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Jack (Florence) Maas, Ray (Sue) Maas and many nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Carole, his parents and one brother, Emil Maas.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Seton Cancer Institute.
