Elaine Roth   (Special Education - Arthur Hill High School)
1944 - 2007

Roth, Elaine L. Charlevoix, Michigan Died Thursday, August 30, 2007, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. Age 63 years. Memorial service will be 12:30 p.m., Monday, September 10, at the Weathervane Restaurant, next to the bridge in Charlevoix. She was born June 30, 1944, in Saginaw to Howard F.M. and Esther E. (Lange) Gremel. Elaine graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw in 1962, earned a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University in 1967, and in 1972, a Master of Arts in Special Education.

She spent two years teaching elementary school in Grand Blanc, and 27 years teaching Special Education at Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, retiring in 1996. Most recently, she has been employed at the Bullfrog Light Company in Charlevoix. Elaine loved to sail the North Channel with friends, Bill and Betsy Stewart. She enjoyed her three cats, Trilly, Tansy, and Poppy. Most of all, she enjoyed her Special Education students.

On August 12, 1967, she married Larry L. Roth in Saginaw. Upon retiring, they made their home in Charlevoix, where Larry resides.

Elaine is also survived by her mother, Esther E. Gremel; sisters, Annette (John) Boyer, Carolyn (Marvin) Turner, all of Saginaw, Loretta (Harry) Meersma of Lansing; brother, Randall H. (Annmarie) Gremel of Antioch, Tenn.; special aunt, Lorna Ziegler of Saginaw. Elaine's father, Howard preceded her in death in 1982.
