Petzko, Edward F. Saginaw, Michigan Edward F. Petzko, age 83, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Covenant Healthcare, Harrison in Saginaw, Michigan after a brief illness. For over 30 years, Ed was a high school teacher, beginning in Evansville, Wisconsin, before moving to St. Charles, Michigan and then spending the last 25 years of his teaching career at Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, Michigan. In addition to his teaching role, Ed was very active in athletics and held head coaching positions in basketball, football, track and cross-country. Of special note during his time at Arthur Hill, Ed was the man in the press box behind the numbers on the electronic scoreboard at the Arthur Hill Stadium. "Coach" Petzko was inducted into the Michigan Sports Sages in 1980 in recognition of his coaching activities.

Ed was an avid amateur golfer and passed his love of the game on to his children and grandchildren who found success at the high school and collegiate level. He was also a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan, having been born and raised in Packer country in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Ed received numerous athletic awards in high school and after his graduation, served his country proudly during WW II in the U. S. Coast Guard as a Seaman First Class aboard the cutter, CGC. Kimball. After the war, Ed attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he graduated with a degree in Education and then attended the University of Michigan where he received his Master's Degree.

Edward Petzko is survived by his wife, Marion, his 3 sons and their spouses, John and Maureen Petzko, Coldwater, Michigan, David and Janell Petzko, Media, Pennsylvania and Richard Petzko, Los Angeles, California; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Petzko Knowles and Megan Petzko; his sister, Mae Petzko, Cudahy, Wisconsin.
